With a unanimous vote on Tuesday evening, the Guthrie city council agreed to extend the contract with City Manager Bruce Johnson. The contract extends thru September 2016 with two additional one year terms.
In the regular scheduled meeting, the council acted on Johnson’s contract with no discussion. Councilman John Wood was the only council member absent.
Johnson, who started for City of Guthrie’s top position on Aug. 1, 2015, agreed on the contract that started on March 1, 2016 and extends through Sept. 30, 2016. The contract calls for an annual base salary of $104,000.
The City also agrees to compensate Johnson with $500 a month for vehicle allowance, $100 technology stipend, pay 100 percent of the premiums for medical and dental insurance and 10 percent ($10,400) of the base salary for Johnson’s retirement fund.
In addition, the City will compensate Johnson for general business expenses (professional dues and subscriptions) as well as travel expenses when conducting city business.
The contract states Johnson must obtain and maintain a residence inside Guthrie’s city limits within six months. Currently, Johnson’s residence is listed in Tulsa. The City agreed to pay $5,000 for moving expenses from Tulsa to Guthrie.
