City’s tourism director resigns post

After nearly five years with the City of Guthrie, Tourism Director Andrea Post has resigned from her position to begin a new chapter in her life.

“You have created and continue to build a rewarding and dynamic place to work, and I thank you both for the opportunity to serve the staff and the community, to learn, to grow, and to earn my
living for several years,” Post said in a letter to the city manager.

“This community is headed in a great direction thanks to your leadership and ideas, Leroy, and I am excited to see what
is on the horizon for Guthrie.”

Post came to the City in August 2013 as the executive assistant to the city manager before being named the tourism director in February 2017.

“I have struggled with this decision, but feel it is time to begin a new chapter in my career,” Post added.

City Manager Leroy Alsup said they will be seeking candidates to fill the position later this week.

“Andrea did an excellent job as Tourism Director and was a valued member of our Management Team. She will be missed and not easily replaced,” Alsup said.

He added, “The City wishes Andrea the very best in her new endeavors.”

Post’s final day with the City will be Friday.

The tourism director is responsible for processing exclusive use application requests for use of streets and/or public property for special events, applications for event support from the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund, provide administrative assistance to the Convention Visitors Bureau Advisory Board and responsible for attracting, selling, overseeing the development, implementation and coordination of City tourism (sports, conventions and conferences) related activities including marketing, advertising, financial reporting and coordinating and overseeing the budget.
