Guthrie FD has gone from a 5 rating down to a 4 and ultimately results in reduced insurance costs for home and business owners.Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John Doak recently made a stop at the Guthrie Fire Department as part of his annual 77 county tour of Oklahoma.
Doak acknowledge the department for their 4 rating through the Insurance Service Office (ISO).
Fire departments are rated on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being the best. The ratings are based on the department’s equipment, manpower and training, as well as its water supply and communications. Also factored in is water supply and 911 center.
ISO ratings are used by insurance companies to help set rates on property insurance.

In addition, Doak visited with Chief Eric Harlow and firefighters on the wildfire that occurred in May 2014.
Harlow and the department each received a Citation of Appreciation from the State’s insurance office.
