Gary Myers, better known as Trey to his family and friends, started to feel ill on Saturday morning and was taken to the hospital. He died on Monday evening.

Superintendent Josh Sumrall said Myers showed no signs of being sick during the game.

Sumrall was informed from hospital officials that this case of meningitis is not contagious and helped inform the public by posting a letter on the school’s website.

“Coyle Public Schools has received verification from the Medical Director at Baptist Integris Hospital that this particular case of meningitis is not contagious.”

The letter also noted that counselors from surrounding communities are available for students and staff to help get through the tragedy.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2013 at the original Coyle High School Gym with Rev. Randy Green and Rev. John Pryor officiating.
