District 2 Update: Best wishes to all for the New Year!

Bookmark and Share

On January 2, 2013, I stood before Judge Luke Duel to be sworn in for a second term as County Commissioner of District 2. I count it an honor to serve the residents of this district and pledge to continue the process of making road and bridge improvements which will help bring the county highway system up to standard.

When first elected, I had a vision of how much the district could be improved. As I enter the second term, I have an even better comprehension of how to accomplish these goals. The process sometimes seems agonizingly slow but we are making progress. By updating equipment through low interest lease purchases, and getting some highly traveled roads paved which were requiring a lot of money for maintenance, we are beginning to be able to shift funding to other areas which have been neglected for years.

During my initial term of office we secured close to four million in state and federal dollars for roads and bridges. This funding is scheduled to be used within the next four years. For a specific list of these projects go to CommissionDistrict2.com, and click on “Projects’ Status.”

I would like to remind everyone again that we are continuing the solid waste cleanup program through February, 2013. The dumpster is located at the county shop at 1550 N. Midwest Blvd. and is available to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Mon. through Fri., except for
holidays. If it is necessary to bring items to the dumpster on Saturday, appointments can be made by calling our office at 282.3405 or my cell phone at 650.0384. The dumpster is available for solid waste only. Items which will not be accepted include garbage (any kind of food or vegetation), hazardous materials, appliances containing Freon, rubber tires and liquids.
