The second season of Mudcats is set to debut Sunday, Jan. 13 at 9 p.m. The documentary, which was filmed in Guthrie, will air on the National Geographic channel.
National Geographic’s “Mudcats” has five teams that search Oklahoma waters for 50-plus pound flathead catfish with their bare hands. They’re all out to prove they’re the best “mudcatter” in Oklahoma.
The series also delves into the history behind the hand-fishing tradition, which has been passed down from father to son since the 1800s.
The competition is 10 rounds and all 10 weigh-ins were filmed at the Rock A Way Tavern located at Sooner and Seward road last summer.
The winner of each round wins $2,000.00.
It’s the first round of the 10-week-long Okie Hand Fishing Invitational, and grabbler Katt Daddy Brewer thinks he’s got a hold on a local legend. Underwater cameras capture the epic battle of man versus fish, as Katt Daddy wrestles a megabeast he calls Jaws. But this time, the fish gets the best of him.
The show airs each Sunday night at 9 p.m.
