Donations will help Special Olympians look good for Summer Games

Thanks to the generosity of local supporters, the Guthrie’s Special Jays will stand-out in fashion after spending a day at a sporting goods store.

The Jays made a trip to Academy and shopped for shoes for the upcoming games in May.

“We had the best day ever shopping for shoes with our Special Olympics Athletes today,” Guthrie Upper Elementary School teacher Laura Benham said.

Benham says the kids had smiles on their faces and were very excited.

The teacher says she wants to thank all of their supporters, including civic leader Jeff Chappell, who donated his winnings from their annual fundraising dinner last month back to the Special Jays. 

“You have all helped put the smile on these kids’ faces.” Benham concluded with.
