Edmond man dies in morning crash on Broadway

An Edmond man died following a head-on vehicle accident Wednesday morning just outside of the Guthrie city limits on Broadway.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, just before 9:30 a.m. Tyrone Stewart, 77, of Edmond was driving a 1997 Toyota Tacoma in the northbound lane, south of University Ave. For unknown reasons, Stewart traveled left of the center lane striking Derek Titus, 34, of Midwest City, who was traveling southbound in a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado.

Stewart was transported to a hospital, but was pronounced dead due to injuries suffered in the crash.

Titus suffered minor trunk injuries.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.

Along with OHP, Guthrie EMS, Logan County Sheriff’s Office and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations worked the crash scene.
