The Emergency Medical Services Authority have lifted the heat alert that was in effect for 58 days.

The 58 days is the longest amount of time in the last eight years.

Paramedics said they responded to 313 heat calls since June 17th and took 227 people to the hospital. Of that number 180 patients were in good condition when taken to a local emergency room.

Sunday, as of 6pm, EMSA dispatchers received no 911 calls related to the heat. When dispatchers receive 5 heat related calls in a 24 hour period, EMSA officials believe the heat is having an impact on public safety and issue a Heat Alert.
