Enid drops BlueJays on home court

Bookmark and Share

A slow start did not damper the evening for the boys basketball team, but the BlueJays could not get over the hump when they squared off with Enid inside the GHS gymnasium.

Guthrie was led by Jerrick Warren’s game-high 17 points, but it was not enough as Enid came away with a 51-57 victory to drop the Jays to 1-6 on the year. Enid now stands at 4-7.

Guthrie held a 12-10 lead after the first quarter despite being outscored 8-0 to begin the game.

Enid’s Correll Baker scored 12 of his 15 points in the last quarter, including the game’s last four points.

The Jays were 11 of 19 from the free throw line and were led by Warren’s five of eight.

Guthrie will look to snap a three-game losing skid when they return back to the home floor against Noble on Tuesday. Game time is set for 8 p.m. and can be heard on Triple Play Sports Radio 105.1 FM and Guthrie Sports Page.

Guthrie Scoring: Warren 17, Baez 10, Nichols 8, McFadden 6, Brown 5, Irvin 4
