Enroll now for career training at Meridian Technology Center; limited space for fall training

Students who are interested in pursuing career training as part of their educational path still have time to enroll before classes start on August 15, according to Jeanie Zagar, Executive Director of Career Planning/Career Development at Meridian.

“It’s not too late to train at Tech. We have limited space available, and the opportunity to start in the fall still exists,” she said.

Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Automotive Technology, Culinary Arts, Computer Aided Drafting, Electrical Technology, Energy and Power, Information Technology, Product Development and Machining, Pharmacy Technology have limited space for morning or afternoon class periods. Carpentry, Facilities Management, Precision Metal Fabrication have availability in the afternoon.

Students attend Meridian either in the morning or afternoon session and are eligible for high school credit. College credit is available in many programs. Classes held during the morning session are from 7:50 – 10:40 and the afternoon classes are from 12:45 – 3:35.

High school students can attend during their junior and senior years. Sophomores can enroll for afternoon programs when space is available. High school students in Meridian’s district are able to attend at no cost with books provided once school starts. Free transportation is also available with pickup locations at district high schools. Meridian is open to homeschool students who live in district.

Adult students have the option to complete a career training program in one or two years. They are responsible for their transportation and educational expenses. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.

While attending Meridian students can also participate in Career Tech Student Organizations related to their field. Upon graduating Meridian, nearly 90 percent of students continue to higher education or a job related to their program of study.
