John Vance Country Ford and GHS working together to raise funds for equipment, supplies

John Vance Country Ford has agreed to sponsor Guthrie High School for a Ford Drive 4 UR School event. The event is being held during the August 11th “Meet the Bluejays” ceremony and cookout. The event could earn up to $8,000 to be split between the football boosters and the Guthrie Education Foundation for teachers’ grant fulfillment, which will provide additional new monies for needed equipment, programs, and supplies for classrooms.

“We need the community to rally around this year’s Ford Drive 4 UR School event,” said Doug Ogle, Guthrie Public Schools Foundation member. “We need parents, teachers, coaches, administrators and the general public to come and test-drive new Ford Vehicles so we can maximize the total amount being offered to us.”

Ogle says the school will receive $20 for each test-drive up to $6,000 and another $2,000 for each $10 test-drive of the new Ford Transit van.

Drivers must be 18 years of age or older and have a valid driver’s license.

“We love these type of fundraising event opportunities provided by major vehicle manufactures like Ford Motor Company,” Vice President Megan Vance of John Vance Auto Group said.

Vance continued, “We know that schools across America are finding it difficult to fund public education. This is our way of helping to pitch-in dollars for our teachers and kids. This year’s test-drive participants will receive a $750, certificate good toward the purchase of a new Ford. This $750 is a dollars-off discount given exclusively to Drive 4 UR School test-drive participants. It can be stacked on top of all other discounts and special programs offered by Ford or our dealership. All the participant has to do is drive and complete the event test-drive registration form.”

Attendees of Meet the Bluejays are encouraged to arrive early, between 2 – 6 p.m., so they can test-drive both a standard Ford vehicle of their choice and the Ford Transit van. Standard Ford vehicles that will be available, include the new Ford F-150, Ford Explorer, Ford Mustang, Ford Escape and other Ford products.

Meet the Bluejays ceremony and cookout begins 5 p.m. at Jelsma Stadium. The Guthrie High School fall programs will be introduced to all fans.

To date, Ford Dealerships like John Vance Country Ford have helped raise more than $35 million for local schools and nonprofits, thanks to their hard work and the Drive 4 UR School and Drive 4 UR Community programs. The money raised during the Drive 4 UR School program has helped ensure that educational programs and extracurricular activities like sports and music programs continue in local communities despite budgetary constraints.
