Fallen LCSO deputy given a hero’s goodbye

As Logan County Deputy David Wade was being escorted to Summit View Cemetery as a hero, he was surrounded by a sea of red and blue lights, flags, hundreds of law enforcement officers and civilians.

On Monday, Wade’s family celebrated his life surrounded by more than 1,000 people including law enforcement officers from all across the state and nation.

There were no cameras allowed inside the Lazy E Arena, but during the 90 minute service, speeches were given by Cashion Police Chief Veronica Thomas, Sheriff Damon Devereaux and Department of Public Safety Commissioner Michael Thompson.

“He stood for integrity. He stood for courage. He stood for service,” Thompson said on the elevated stage. “That’s why we’re all here.”

Following the funeral, a procession escorted Wade to the cemetery, where he was laid to rest. The procession was approximately 35 minutes of emergency personnel alone.
