Recently the students of Faver Alternative School were involved in a STEM + history activity at their school.
Students used each of the elements of STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Math) and included historical evidence in their project.
The students practiced collaborative learning, fractions, measuring, ingenuity, observed chemical reactions and more as they made “Wacky Cake” in the microwave.
Wacky Cake is a dessert which became popular during World War II when milk and eggs were scarce.
This confection is made without either of these items, instead using flour, sugar, baking soda, vegetable oil and other ingredients to create a tasty learning project.
