Fence damaged at school by alleged drunk driver

A 75-year-old man is facing multiple charges after he apparently smashed into a fence in front of a Guthrie elementary school on Wednesday night.

At approximately 8:50 p.m., a Guthrie police officer observed a truck turning onto 19th Street from Noble Ave. when it smashed into a portion of the fence in front of Cotteral Elementary, which is located at 2001 W. Noble Ave.

The driver of the vehicle, Jerry Mark Corr, continued on and was eventually pulled over by the officer in the 2100 block of W. Oklahoma.

In the officer’s report, he noticed an odor of alcohol and detected slur speech coming from Corr.

A second officer was requested to the scene to perform a field sobriety test.

Corr was arrested for driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident. He was later transported to the Logan County Jail.

An estimate of damage to the fence was not immediately known on Thursday morning.

There were no injuries reported.
