Firefighters battling grass fire at Seward Road

3:45 Update — Fire crews believe they will be on the scene for 3-4 additional hours.

Logan County District 2 is assisting firefighters with graders.

American Red Cross has been dispatched to help firefighters.


Several fire departments are battling a grass fire on Seward Road near Midwest Blvd.

The fire broke out just before 3 p.m.

Seward Road is currently blocked off to traffic at Pine St. and Douglas Blvd.

Current wind conditions (at 3 p.m.) are blowing from the NNE at 11 mph and gusting up to 15 mph.

Firefighters have protected at least two structures from the fire.

The main portion of the fire is going to be near the paintball course in the 2600 block of E. Seward.
