The Oklahoma Military Heritage Foundation sponsors the Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame. Established in 1999, the Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame’s mission is to share and appreciate the distinctive and gallant military history of our great state.
“From statehood through the World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, the Cold War, the Gulf Wars, and the War on Terrorism, Oklahoma’s servicemen and servicewomen have played, and continue to play, a major role in the defense of our Nation.”
In 2023, the companion Hall of Honor was established to expand the impact of the Foundation and honor the many heroic and patriotic Oklahomans deserving of significant recognition. Since then, supporting community chapters have been established to administer the Hall of Honor programs at the local level.
An ambassador with the Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame, Lieutenant Colonel (Ret) Kyle Brede with the Guthrie High School JROTC program, and in partnership with the American Legion, petitioned the Hall of Fame to create a chapter in Guthrie.
On January 15, 2025, Guthrie was approved as the First Capital Chapter of the Oklahoma Military Hall of Honor. Steps are underway to nominate and recognize deserving recipients for induction into the Hall of Honor, including appropriate presentations.
If you would like more information on the First Capital Hall of Honor, contact Lieutenant Colonel (Ret) Kyle Brede at kyle.brede@guthrieps.org.
