The Guthrie Freshmen football team had a battle in the first half with Western Heights, but came out in the second half with 20 points to secure the win.

Quarterback Jaron Pryor spotted Jeremy Hembree for a 15 yards pass and catch touchdown to go up 6-0 and quickly 8-0 on the 2-point conversion with a Zane Maltz pass to Austin Flury with 3:26 to play in the first quarter.

The game stayed that way until 2:49 left in the third quarter when sophomore Trey Wilson scored on a 15-yard run to increase the lead 14-0 and quickly 16-0 when Pryor spotted Rowdy Reihs on the 2-point conversion.

Guthrie and Western Height used a hand full of sophomores to play in the game after the Oklahoma City school did not have enough players to participate in the junior varsity game.

The BlueJays found the end zone twice in the fourth quarter. The first score came on a Wilson 35-yard run to increase the lead 22-0 and finally Trey Campbell hit pay dirt for the final 28-0 score.
