Frozen tree uproots and lands on truck

Bookmark and Share

The winter storm has left its mark on one Guthrie family.

WeatherThe rain and freezing rain started to fall late Friday evening and into the over night hours. The result left trees and power lines carrying the extra weight of the frozen precipitation.

Due to the added weight, one particular tree in the 600 block of E. Warner was uprooted and fell onto a resident’s vehicle during the mid morning hours on Saturday.

This is always a risk when you don’t prepare your trees properly for winter. An unprepared tree can die over the winter or even fall over like in this situation, Always make sure you go to tree professionals like the ones at Greenleaf (www.treeserviceaustin.co) to ensure your trees will make it soundly through the winter.

The heavy limbs fell on top of the blue pickup truck’s top, windshield and hood. The impact of the collision caused the tires to flatten.

The fallen tree blocked the roadway until the City’s Street crews were able to clear off the debris.

There were no bodily injuries reported at the scene.
