A semi-fuel tanker’s steer tire blew out causing him to cross Interstate 35 and smashing into a truck on Wednesday afternoon. One person was transported to an Edmond hospital.
The semi truck was traveling south bound when the tire blew. At around 12:14 p.m. the driver lost control of the semi and went through the cable barrier separating the north and south bound highway lanes.
After coming across the highway, the semi smashed into a gray, Silverado pick up truck, who was on the north bound on ramp from Seward Road. Both vehicles came to a rest in a grassy area just east of the on ramp.
Luckily, the fuel truck was empty.
The driver of the pick up was transported by the Guthrie Fire Department to Edmond OU Medical.
This accident was one of four OHP worked in a span of two hours along the highway between Waterloo and Seward roads.
One other person was treated and release at a Guthrie hospital at a wreck that occurred near Waterloo Road.
