GHS drama team headed to State for second straight year

The Guthrie High School drama team took third place in regionals over the weekend and now will be heading to State on Oct. 29.

Alexis McKernen won the all-star cast.

Director and advisor, Shelley Berryman, said the one act play they bring to life is called 10 Ways to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse.

“This is a fun show and the kids are loving every minute of it.”

Berrryman said it was a busy weekend with performing at the alumni assembly then driving to Oologah for the 30 minute tech practice on Friday after the Homecoming parade and then back for the end of the Bluejays football game.

“We them drove back to Oologah Saturday morning at 6:30 am. for a noon performance.”

“We start out at a disadvantage due to not having a proper stage with lighting and sound system. Most schools our size have everything, so I’m very proud of my kids for making it to state for a second year in a row,” Berryman said.
