GHS students excel at 2019 Oklahoma Thespian Festival

A total of 10 students from Guthrie High School attended and competed in the 2019 Oklahoma Thespian Festival at the Tulsa Community College over the weekend.

The students competed in monologue and solo musicals.

Zyair Hall won a $250 Thespian Scholarship while auditioning and competing at the festival.

Dalynn Sumo and Izeck Escobar auditioned for and were selected for the Oklahoma All-State Thespian Show. They will rehearse once per month at Tulsa Community College and perform at next year’s Thespian Festival.

Seniors Jesse Scherffius and Zyair Hall auditioned for numerous colleges during college try-outs and both received multiple offers.

“It was a fun filled weekend of drama and learning,” said GHS advisor Shelley Berryman, who also taught two workshops on drama improv.

We are excited about going back next year,” Berryman added.
