Girl Scouts learn important skills during cookie season

Can you smell it in the air? Yes, it’s Girl Scout cookie time. Recently, the local troop met for their annual Cookie Rally in Guthrie. While attending the rally, the girls learned several skills to use during the 2018 Cookie Sale.

Those skills, include how to count money, how to safely sell cookies, the proper way to approach someone about sales, what the different cookie flavors are and what they taste like and much more.

The girls left with enthusiasm and the knowledge to begin their own “cookie business.”

The Girl Scout cookie program allows the girls to fund activities and trips throughout the year. However, Girl Scouts is not just about fun and games. The girls take pride in giving back to their communities.

“Our local Girl Scout Troops use funds raised through the Girl Scout Cookie program to host community service projects throughout the year,” Troop Leader Brittany Timmons said.

Timmons says when you buy the amazing, delicious cookies, you are helping to “empower girls.” The Girl Scouts will have experiences that help them learn life skills and prepare them for a lifetime of leadership.

The 2018 Cookie Sale is underway and will continue through March 25.
