Guthrie Public Schools announced their teachers of the year, including the district teacher of the year, on Monday during their regular scheduled school board meeting.
Doug Ogle, the Executive Director of Personnel & Secondary Education, announced Bryan Dearing as the Secondary Teacher of the Year and Carmen Walters, the Executive Director of Federal Programs and Elementary Education, announced Sarah Lausen as the Elementary Teacher of the Year.

After the finalists were introduced, Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson opened the envelope and proclaimed Dearing as the District Teacher of the Year.
Dearing teaches history at Guthrie Junior High School while Lausen teaches kindergarten at Cotteral Elementary.
Simpson collected donations from local merchants to honor the district’s top teachers. Gifts include gift certificates, pottery, goodie baskets, floral arrangements, monetary donations and use of an SUV for one month in the summer.
