Despite using an inclement weather day on May 1, Guthrie Public Schools confirmed that Thursday, May 22, will remain the final day of classes for the 2024–25 school year.
According to Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson, the district’s use of instructional hours, rather than strictly counting days, ensures compliance with state education requirements, allowing the calendar to stay on track.
“One of the unique aspects of our district is the possibility of lost instruction due to flooding in the spring,” Simpson said. “This is why we utilized a combination of virtual instruction days and inclement weather days built into our calendar during the winter months.”
Simpson added that this flexibility helped the district avoid extending the school year.
