A 3-year-old boy drowned in a Guthrie residential pool Thursday evening and was pronounced dead at Logan Medical Center shortly after.
Jacob White, 3, of Tecumseh was visiting relatives at 7351 S. Douglas Blvd. for a weekend of barbecue and swimming for the holiday weekend, according to Logan County Chief Deputy Rob Groseclose.
Guthrie Fire Chief Eric Harlow told Guthrie News Page that the boy was under for 2-5 minutes before he was found at around 8:30 p.m. The Logan County Sheriff’s office investigated the drowning.
The boy’s father was mowing and said Jacob was wearing a life jacket while he mowing, but authorities believe the boy removed the life jacket and got in the pool.
Harlow said the parents performed CPR while they met an ambulance at I-35 and Seward Road.
The boy’s body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office.
