Central Oklahoma redshirt freshman Eli Kirk, a Guthrie High School alum and two-time state champion, has been named MIAA Wrestler of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced Tuesday.
Kirk showcased his dominance on Sunday at the Roger Denker Open in Warrensburg, Missouri, where he went an impressive 4-0 to claim the 133-pound title. The standout performance included bonus-point victories in all four matches, as Kirk outscored his opponents by a combined 63-8, allowing only three offensive points throughout the day.
Here’s a breakdown of his victories:
- 17-2 over Aaron Ohnoutka (Iowa Western)
- 17-1 over Brock Smith (Central Missouri)
- 17-2 over Ryan Lobato (Grand View)
- 12-3 in the finals against Charlie Dykes (Central Missouri)
Now sitting at 17-4 on the season with 14 bonus-point wins, Kirk continues to solidify himself as a key contributor for No. 5-ranked Central Oklahoma (7-1 overall).
The Bronchos will return to action this weekend, traveling to Springfield, Missouri, on Friday to face Drury at 7 p.m. before hosting Colorado State-Pueblo on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Edmond for Alumni Day.
