Guthrie goes above triple digits; more heat expected

It was bound to happen. Luckily, it came in the third week of July. We’re talking about temperatures hitting 100 degrees for the first time this year.

According to the Mesonet, Guthrie hit a high temperature of 103 degrees with a heat index of 105 on Thursday.

A heat advisory was issued for a good part of the state, including Guthrie.

The 103 degree reading represents the first time this summer Guthrie has hit the century mark. However, our neighbors to the west in Kingfisher have seen 11 days of at least 100 degrees.

Guthrie has now seen 90 degrees or warmer 33 days this year.

The triple digits will remain in the forecast for the next two days with expected highs of 101 degrees.
