Guthrie High School graduation venue changes location

The Guthrie High School graduation set for Friday, May 20 has been moved from Jelsma Stadium. The school district announced the Lazy E Arena will, once again, host the graduation.

“With the uncertainty of spring weather in Oklahoma, having an indoor venue assures us commencement exercises can occur on the scheduled date,” Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson said in a release Thursday morning.

District officials determined recently that the arena was available and have worked with the Lazy E staff to secure the venue.  The scheduled starting time will remain at 7:30 p.m.

The building will be open to the public at 6:00 p.m. on that evening.

“We hope providing this much advanced notice will allow families to notify their invitees of the change,” Simpson added.

“The Lazy E Arena staff continue to be incredibly supportive of our community and we are thankful for their willingness to host this special event,” Simpson said. “We look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of the GHS Class of 2022.”
