Recently the Downtown Noon Lions Club honored Dorothy Stone for her service of over 10 years as the club’s secretary/treasurer. Lions District Governor, Tom Cummings, was present to express appreciation to Dorothy and to congratulate her on the beginning of a new term in that role.
Cummings noted, “Every organization needs dedicated people to lead and to keep it on track. Dorothy has been a special part of the structure of this club for over a decade and has made sure that the finances are straight and that the historic record of events get recorded correctly. She has been diligent in keeping the district offices aware of each activity. She makes a difference.”
Lion Club President Cheryl Tarter commented, “Dorothy has been a significant part of our club’s success. She works “behind the scenes” but she makes things happen. Dorothy is there every week making sure things are working smoothly and then preparing the various reports that keep everyone informed. She gives a special service to this organization! Thank you Dorothy.”
The Guthrie Noon Lions Club meets every Friday at noon at the Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. Each week, in addition to a wonderful meal and meaningful fellowship, a special guest presentation is made, generally focusing on a program, process or activity that directly affects our community and our lives.
Membership is open to all who want to make a difference, to all who want “to serve”. For more information concerning Lions and the Guthrie Noon Lions Club please contact Sylvia Ochs at 641-1830 or Cheryl Tarter at 659-5659.
