Lion Sylvia Ochs announced recently that at noon on Friday, November 7 the Guthrie Lions Club will have as its guest speaker, Lisa Perry, Manager at the Oklahoma Regional Food Bank.
The Lions Club meets at the Fellowship Hall of the 1st Presbyterian Church on E. Nobel.
“We are so pleased that Lisa will be with us and share some of the wonderful things that the Regional Food Bank is doing in Logan County, as well as its plans for the future. Lisa’s goal is to sustain the Regional Food Bank’s programs and to raise awareness of the issues of hunger found throughout Oklahoma, throughout Logan County, every day of the week. She is a fantastic speaker with an outstanding message and lots of valuable information. All are invited to come, share some lunch and fellowship, and listen to an inspiring presentation!”
Last year the Regional Food Bank distributed over 2.3 MILLION pounds of food to Logan County residents through partner agencies that included: God’s Food Bank, Logan Community Services, Hands of Jesus, and Crescent Assembly of God Church. Additionally, almost 200 students in the Guthrie School system received take home meals through the “School Back Pack” program. The Crescent Public Schools have been designated as a “School Pantry Site” to provide supplementary food for students to take home. Learn more about these and many other programs offered by the Regional Food Bank at this thought provoking presentation.
The Guthrie Noon Lions Club meets every Friday at noon at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall at 102 E. Noble. Each week, in addition to a wonderful meal and meaningful fellowship, a special guest presentation is made, generally focusing on a program, process or activity that directly affects our community and our lives. Membership is open to all who want to make a difference, to all who want “to serve”.
