Guthrie Slowpitch to host first-ever District Tournament in program history

For the first time in program history, the Guthrie High School slowpitch softball team will host a district tournament.

The historic event will take place on Tuesday, April 22, as the Lady Jays welcome Bristow and Fort Gibson to town for Class 5A District competition.

Tournament play will begin at noon with Bristow (9-20) and Fort Gibson (11-5) facing off. Guthrie, currently holding a 9-8 record and ranked 13th in Class 5A, will take the field at 1:30 p.m. against the loser of that opening game. They’ll then play the winner at 3 p.m.

Depending on the outcomes, another game will be held at 4:30 p.m., with a final “if necessary” game scheduled for 6 p.m.

The opportunity to host is a milestone for Guthrie’s program. It gives the Lady Jays home-field advantage as they look to make a deep postseason push.
