It was a standout week for the Guthrie High School girls’ tennis team as they notched impressive performances in two major tournaments.

At the Phil Barnes 5A Public School Championships, the Lady Jays finished in second place overall as a team.

Leading the way was the No. 1 doubles team of Rylee Tobin and Aspen Mitchell, who captured first place by defeating Carl Albert in a thrilling third-set match.

In No. 1 singles, Mary Hudson and Lola Brown battled their way to a second-place finish, while Kenzie Hardesty claimed 6th in No. 2 singles. In the No. 2 doubles bracket, Hollie Mitchell and Haven Hudson placed fourth.

Earlier in the week, Guthrie captured the team championship at the Bishop McGuinness Tennis Tournament.

Tobin and Mitchell once again delivered, winning the No. 1 doubles title after defeating Casady in the finals. Hardesty placed 5th in No. 2 singles, Brown secured fourth in No. 1 singles, and the duo of Mitchell and Hudson topped McGuinness to win the No. 2 doubles bracket.

Coach Mary Hudson and her team continue to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the season, showcasing depth and resilience across all brackets.
