Guthrie Public Schools (GPS) announced that all schools will transition to virtual learning on Thursday (Jan 30, 2025) and Friday (Jan. 31, 2025) due to a significant number of staff illnesses.
While student attendance levels remain typical for this time of year, the district cited an inability to effectively operate in-person instruction due to staff shortages.
Teachers who are not on leave will be available in their classrooms to assist students with virtual lessons via email. The district utilizes various online learning platforms, and teachers have posted assignments to guide students through the next two days.
In addition to the shift to virtual learning, GPS has begun a comprehensive disinfection process across all buildings using tools acquired during the COVID-19 pandemic. The district plans to continue these efforts over the next two days to ensure a safe return to in-person learning on Monday.
Families are encouraged to monitor district communications for any further updates.
