Guthrie’s new head softball coach, Lee Linsenmeyer, conducted his first camp on Monday morning. It was the first time Linsenmeyer was able to work with the Guthrie youth since being hired late last month.
Linsenmeyer’s wife, Karie, the head softball coach at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, was on hand to help with the group that ranged from first grade to eighth grade.
The camp will run three days (Monday thru Wednesday) and will be working on fundamentals, in which, is a priority once these young athletes make it to junior high and high school.
“Fundamentals are the most important thing. You have to understand the game and play it correctly,” Linsenmeyer said. “I am big on small ball and that is what we are going to do.”
