Heating and air conditioning renovation underway at GHS

The Guthrie High School building has been in desperate need of its heating and cooling system for years. Thanks to the successful school bond issue in 2015 progress is now underway.

Crews were at the high school on Friday working on the first phase of the heating and air conditioning renovation.

Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson said the large unit was removed and replaced with its replacement.

“The old unit has three compressors, one of which has not been operational in over ten years and one that was working at 50 percent capacity,” Simpson said. “The new unit will be much more efficient and reliable.”

The project is part of Phase III of the the bond issue.
