House fire claims one person, 4 dogs

One person was rushed to the local hospital following a house fire Saturday afternoon. The man later died at the hospital.

Emergency personnel rushed to 1117 E. Vilas for a report of a structure fire.

The Guthrie Fire Department and Guthrie Police Department arrived on scene and found smoke coming out from a front bedroom.

Firefighters made their way inside the home and found a male. They rushed him out of the home and began performing CPR.

Paramedics quickly transported him to Mercy Hospital Logan County.

Two dogs were also carried out from the home. Unfortunately, they did not survive despite several attempts (oxygen and CPR) by police. Two other small dogs also perished when they were later found in the home.

The Oklahoma State Fire Marshal’s Office arrived to the scene at 6 p.m. and is investigating the cause of the fire.

The Sooner Fire Department responded for fire mutual assistance.
