Inattentive driver smashes into vehicle on S. Division

Two men are lucky not to have suffered any major injuries on Friday morning following a two vehicle accident on S. Division St. This marks the second accident this week in the same area.

Just before 9 a.m. emergency crews responded to the entrances of Pleasant Hill Apartments and Mission Hills Addition.

An officer working the accident says a green Sonoma pickup truck was attempting to turn left into the apartment complex when it was smashed in from behind by a black Kia Spectra (pictured above).

The driver says he simply did not see him, according to officers at the scene. The male driver was issued two citations at the scene.

The driver of the Sonoma received treatment from Guthrie EMS at the scene for a hand injury, but there were no medical transports.

On Thursday, the Guthrie Police Department worked a two vehicle accident just south of Friday mornings accident. In that accident, a driver of a silver car was southbound on S. Division while texting and driving. The driver did not realize that she had drifted across the center line. The driver of the van attempted to swerve out of the silver car’s path, but was still struck. A citation was issued to the driver of the silver car for her reckless action.

“Our electronic gadgetry has become an integral part of our lives, but we all have to stop trying to divide our attention while we’re operating a one ton bullet shooting down the highway,” a spokesperson for the police department said.
