Indian tribe launching letter campaign in Holder case

Bookmark and Share

The Cheyenne & Arapaho Tribe is launching a letter campaign to a judge who presided in the case of two-year-old tribal member Naomi Whitecrow, who died in a Logan County foster home, in hopes of having the punishment given to Amy Holder over ruled.

Holder was found guilty of child abuse, a felony, by a Logan County jury for abusing Naomi, who died in Holder’s foster home back in January 2009. Naomi was in the home for four months.

The jury, who deliberated for more than 9 hours,  recommended a punishment of a $5,000 fine with no jail time and rejected the prosecutor’s request of a 25-year prison sentence.

“There is no winners in this case and our heart goes out to the Whitecrow’s and all of her family,” Holder’s attorney Scott Adams said. “It is still a very sad case that we have a two-year-old that is no longer with us.”

The Cheyenne & Arapaho Tribes letter campaign is for Judge Stephen Kistler and in their words are “looking to obtain justice for Naomi” at the formal sentencing of Holder on November 7th. The letter is an effort on an individual basis to change the punishment.

“It was a very difficult case. They obviously came back with a verdict that we can live with,” Adams said. “We have always contended that we did not do it. Hopefully everyone can heal from here on out,” Adams concluded with.

The Whitecrow’s have filed a civil case in Oklahoma county.

Guthrie News Page was given this example letter by the tribe:

Dear Honorable Judge Kistler:

I am writing to request a sentence of 25-35 years imprisonment be imposed on Amy L. Holder for her conviction of felony child abuse resulting in the death of two-year-old Naomi Whitecrow.

Naomi does not get to go home and live out her life. She is gone. Naomi was a baby who was loved by many but did not get the chance to grow into a beautiful young lady.  She was a member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes and as such was to be honored as a child of the Tribes, as is customary.

A sentence of 25-35 years imprisonment on Amy L. Holder could serve as a deterrent to other child abusers who are or will be caring for innocent children.  It could convey the message that when they undertake such a serious duty to care for an innocent child, the State of Oklahoma will hold them accountable, especially when a child in their care dies as a result of the abuse.

  1. This child was defenitely abused mentally and physically and murdered over a period of time. No life can be replaced at any price. Holden should be removed from society – she’s a DANGER, not only to others but also to herself!

    • I’M an world activist who was persecuted inside the United States after I was raped on life support for three months had to learn to walk again. They ordered to pay my persecutors after the man was convicted to the tune of close to two hundred thousands and my minor child to. I know about the persecution to my people by the racist white-mans courts.

””””It is my duty to investigate this degrading bigot secret Judge. His past from childhood to his private life including all those who removed the human rights from this child and family”””’.

The world is a fast changing place and bigots like this Judge in his seat have no place as an American. Does his family have proof how they emigrated to USA just to steal land and murder our people?

The USA Judaical system is corrupted terrorist Organization that violates human rights for the racist Organization.

Nothing has changed by the racist white-men!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I’m just learning of this case while visiting OKC. Why aren’t they going after the doctor that Amy Holder brought Naomi to? Isn’t he/she even more responsible for not seeing what was wrong with the baby and taking action? How can that doctor go unpunished?

  3. Its like you read my thoughts! You appear to understand so much approximately this, like you wrote the e book in it or something. I feel that you could do with some percent to force the message house a little bit, but other than that, that is great blog. A fantastic read. I’ll certainly be back.
