Interstate accident sends Guthrie woman to hospital

A Guthrie woman was transported to an Edmond hospital following a two vehicle accident on I-35 just across Waterloo Rd in Oklahoma County.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the south bound lanes of mile marker 145 (two miles south of Waterloo Rd.) on Monday morning.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a 2004 Ford box truck driven by Jacob Hitchcock, 29, of Guthrie was driving in the outside lane when the tire blew.

As a result, Hitchcock swerved to the left striking a 2004 Ford pickup driven by Shacarra Muhammad, 35, of Guthrie causing her vehicle to depart the roadway, overturning one-half times.

She was transported to Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted in stable condition with neck and spinal injuries.

Hitchcock and his 18-year-old passenger, Jesse Carter, were not injured.

The cause of the collision was reported as an unsafe vehicle (tire).

Carter was the only person reported to be wearing a seatbelt.
