Is Guthrie ATH getting in-state looks?

With ten scholarship offers on the table, Guthrie (OK) High School product Kentrell Brothers is going to have a tough choice to make when it comes to selecting a college. Two notable programs that are noticeably not on the list of schools to have offered are OSU and OU who evidently have yet to show much interest in the talented local athlete.

“No, I haven’t really talked to them actually,” said Brothers.

Is he even interested in either of the Bedlam rival programs?

“I am but they must not be interested in me,” he replied. “I went to O-State’s junior day and I also went to OU’s junior day. OU’s junior day was just the players from Oklahoma and since then I haven’t talked to Oklahoma and since OSU’s junior day I haven’t talked to them either. I haven’t gotten any letters from them or anything.”

With that in mind, Brothers did say that there are other strong schools that have expressed a great deal of interest in his ability.

“If I had to pick one it would be Missouri that is [recruiting me] the hardest. Missouri and Tulsa,” he said. “I went to Missouri for their spring game. It was a pretty good game. The defense was killing the offense though.”

With spring ball set to start at Guthrie on May 17, Brothers noted that he plans to do some more traveling before coming up with any sort of list of favorites.

“No, I’m going to take more visits before I do that,” he said.

Lastly, Brothers discussed what currently are going to be the most influential factors in his decision-making process.

“The biggest one first off would be my education. Then it would be the coaches I’d be with that would prepare me for after college or if I continue to play football after college. It would also have to be the campus, the facilities, and stuff like that,” he finished.
