Jays squander 15 point leads but hold on for win

Guthrie jumped out to a 17-2 run to begin the game on Tuesday evening in Ponca City. The Wildcats returned the favor in the second half, but it was a little too late as the rally came up short.

The BlueJays built up two 15-point margin leads only to see Ponca City not only come back, but take the lead late in the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats grabbed their first lead, 44-43, with 2:23 in the fourth quarter after trailing 29-14. However, they did not have it long as senior guard Edgar Baez drilled a crucial 3-point shot to give the Jays the lead back for good.

Guthrie improves to 3-3 on the year with the 53-46 win.

The Jays were again led in the scoring department from junior L’liott Curry (19) and Baez (16). Curry got the hot hand going in the second half by scoring 13 points.
