Jays stop 3-game losing streak in Noble

The Guthrie Baseball team snapped their three game losing streak with a 5-3 road win in Noble on Monday evening. Senior Zach Bobo picked up the win.

Guthrie improves to 14-6 overall and remains perfect in conference play with an 8-0 record.

The Jays are coming off a 1-3 performance in the Choctaw Tournament. After collecting a first round win over Ponca City, who the Jays play this Saturday, but then dropped three straight against Norman, Choctaw, and the OKC Broncos. The tournament concluded six games in six days for the Guthrie baseball’ers and it was the first time the Jays have lost more then two games in a row.

Guthrie is 6 and 1 at home, 5 and 1 on the road, and 3 and 4 in tournament play. The Jays are 1-3 when playing teams ranked in the top 10 of their class with a win over Kingfisher and losses to Chandler, Lone Grove, and McGuinness.

The Jays host Shawnee Tuesday in another conference game before hosting Northwest Classen on Thursday and a double header on Saturday with McGuinness and Ponca City.

5A Rankings (April 6) – Deer Creek is the new No. 1 this week with an impressive road win at previous number one Carl Albert. The Jays drop two spots to No. 8, but remains the fourth highest seeded team from the West.
