The Guthrie JROTC Raiders team, led by GHS JROTC instructor Major Mick Fredrickson, traveled to San Antonio this weekend to compete in the National Raiders Championship. The Bluejay Raiders competed in five events and finished 8th out of 17 teams overall which was an improvement of three spots from the previous year.
The GHS Raiders competed in the RopeBridge, the Raider gauntlet, the 5K Cross country run, the Cross Country Rescue and the Confidence Course. They finished second in the Cross Country Rescue and third in the Confidence Course.
Fredrickson was pleased with his team’s performance, and is very excited about the improvement his team showed this past weekend. This improvement has Fredrickson very excited about the future of his Raiders team.
“We’ve made good improvement this year, and it showed in our performance this past weekend by finishing 3 spots higher than we did last year. But, we have seen where our weaknesses are and we expect to do even better next year.”
