NFL scouts and coaches will get an up close look at Guthrie’s and current Missouri Tiger linebacker Kentrell Brothers after he announced on Tuesday he has accepted an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl.
The Senior Bowl’s website describes Brothers as “a tackling machine, second team All-SEC performer in 2014 has had double figures in tackles in all but one game this season — 140 total and 9.5 for loss.”
The Senior Bowl is the nation’s most unique football game and football’s premier senior showcase event. It annually features the country’s best senior collegiate football players and top NFL draft prospects on teams representing the North and South that are coached by the entire coaching staffs of two National Football League teams.
Brothers and the other top college pro prospects will practice for three days beginning Jan. 26.
The game is played annually in Mobile, Ala. and this year’s game will be played on Jan. 30 on the NFL Network at 1:30 p.m.
Brothers is the all-time leading receiver for catches and yards for a season and a career in Guthrie football history. He was the first BlueJay to collect a 1,000 yards receiving. In addition, he was among the elite in sacks in both his junior and senior years in the state and has more sacks than any other player in Guthrie history.
