Shawnee, currently ranked fourth in 5A, did not have their first lead until 1:41 into the second quarter, but they never relinquished once they grab it. The Lady Wolves improve to 3-0 on the season with a 30-21 win over Guthrie.

Shawnee was held under their season average of 47 points as the Lady Jays defense forced 19 turnovers. The Lady Wolves were paced by Kelsee Grovey and recent move-in Caitlin Ramirez. The duo scored 29 of the teams 30 points led by Grovey’s game high 15 points.

Guthrie jumped out to a 10-8 first quarter lead, including six points from Melinda Murillo. However, the Lady Jays managed just 11 points in the next three-quarters combined. In fact, both teams combined for just 17 second half points.

Murillo scored 11 of the teams 21 points and was named the Farmers and Merchants Bank Player of the Game.

Guthrie returns back to the GHS gym, Friday night, when they host Western Heights. The game can be heard on 105.1 FM and on Guthrie Sports Page.
