Lady Jays take three game home series with wins

The Guthrie Lady Jays basketball team continues to improve each game out and a big reason for that has been their defense.

The Lady Jays held El Reno to just 11 points in the first 24 minutes en route to a 42-21 win to take the two-game season series. Guthrie improves to 12-9 on the season and now must prepare for their upcoming regional to begin on Thursday evening.

Guthrie held a slim 8-4 first quarter lead before expanding that lead to 12 points by the end of the first half, 20-8. The second half was much like the first half as Guthrie kept their distance.

The Lady Jays finish the regular season with three straight wins at home in three consecutive days and now will play Northwest Classen in a do-or-die first round regional game at McGuinness.
