Jays blow out Chickasha in score fest

Thursday evening the Guthrie boys basketball team was in danger in scoring a season low of points, but on Friday night they were scoring their season high amount of points against the visiting Chickasha Fightin’ Chicks.
 
The Jays, who were celebrating Senior Night, out scored the Chicks 48-18 in the first half and 37-23 in the second half for an 85-41 win inside the GHS gymnasium. With the win, Guthrie gets back within a game of .500 with a 10-11 record while Chickasha falls to 7-13.
 
Leading the scoring ways was senior Kentrell Brothers with 28 points. Just as impressive was fellow senior Tim Zupo with 16 points.
 
Guthrie, who led 20-13 after the first quarter, opened the game wide open in the second quarter with a 12-2 run to start off. By the end of the half, the Jays out scored Chickasha 28-5 to take a 48-18 lead.
