Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – On Friday, October 14 Langston University will host the 11th Annual President’s Scholarship Gala. This formal gathering will once again bring together distinguished guests from across the nation for a spectacular evening at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City. Guests are treated to a full night of entertainment including dinner, live music, a spirited auction, and impactful stories from students. The funds generated will benefit Langston University students by providing need and merit based scholarships.
“The gala presents an opportunity to bring people together from industries beyond the University community who truly believe in our mission and our students. I love the positivity and the energy the gala creates,” said Langston University President, Dr. Kent J. Smith, Jr.
“This is the University’s largest fundraising event of the year,’’ said Mautra Staley Jones, the University’s Vice President of Institutional Advancement and External Affairs and Executive Director of the Foundation. “We rely on the generosity of corporate and foundation sponsors, and distinguished alumni to continue awarding scholarships to our students. We encourage corporations, alumni and friends of Langston University to participate and attend this special occasion.”
This year’s gala will feature a special music performance by national recording artist, The S.O.S. Band, known for their mega hit platinum single; “Take Your Time” among other well known hits such as, “Just Be Good To Me”, “Tell Me If You Still Care”, “Week-end Girl”, “The Finest” and the list goes on. They have shared the stage with legendary artists such as: James Brown, The Gap Band, The Time, The Isley Brothers, Frankie Beverly and Maze, The Bark-Kays, and Peabo Bryson.
