The Guthrie Public Library is proud to present Let’s Talk About It, Oklahoma! Let’s Talk About It, Oklahoma! is a book discussion series made possible by a generous grant provided by the Oklahoma Humanities Council, National Endowment for the Humanities, Kirkpatrick Foundation, and Inasmuch Foundation.
Our current series began in January and we will meet for the final book discussion tonight, April 22, from 6 – 8 pm, focusing on The Silver DeSoto by Patty Lou Floyd. Even if you haven’t read the book, all are welcome to join us.
Our esteemed local scholar will deliver a presentation that will edify you and entice you to read the book. Our theme this Fall will be Writing Worlds and features a series of five books all related to the theme of perception, discovery, and creation in our lives.
Discussions will be held on Monday evenings from 6 – 8 pm: Into the Heart by Kenneth Good on August 26; The Storyteller by Mario Vargas Llosa on September 23; Everything that Rises Must Converge by Flannery O’Connor on 28 October; A Good Scent from a Strange Mountain by Robert Olen Butler on November 25; An American Childhood by Annie Dillard on December 17. Refreshments will be served on discussion nights.
